Adventures with Tyler - Vol. 2

On the second day, we went to Blarney to visit the castle, stone, house, and garden. You know, obligatorily.

This is legit - there really were dangerous plants in here! But I couldn't take any pictures in fear of waking the mandrakes. (Just kidding, but there were actually mandrakes in there.)

We got lost coming back from Blarney and ended up at Nad, a small town that I think only had a bar. Anyway, we were already halfway to Killarney, so we decided to just keep going - to Killarney National Park. One great thing we saw going through the city before the park: a kid on a bicycle wearing a Mike Redmond jersey. In Ireland!! So that was fun.

We climbed a hill to get this great view.

Adventures with Tyler - Vol. 1

Tyler was here for a week, and we went motorcycling around Ireland. These are from his first full day here. We went to Kinsale, which is a small port town about 35 minutes from Cork. The main attraction there is Charles Fort, so we went there and explored for a while.

Birthday Weekend 5/1-5/2

On Saturday, May 1, Mag's sister Liz had to go back to NY, but before she left, they gave me an organic carrot cake for my birthday. We had a lil tea party - it was really sweet.

As you can imagine, St. Patrick's Day in Ireland was an unforgettable experience. After attending a Mass in Irish, my roommates and I made a huge breakfast of eggs and home fries for our friends. After getting decked out in whatever green and Irish flag-themed articles we had around the apartment, we set out for the parade. We couldn't really see the floats because there were so many people, but to console ourselves, we went the Old Oak after and had a pint of Beamish, made right here in Cork City. We came back and made barbeque and sweet chili wings for lunch-ish and then started the corned beef and cabbage. After a nap, we feasted on the "traditional" Irish meal and watched a football game on TV. The perfect day.
